Here Now 04:43
Here Now don’t talk to me of heteronomy of how deluded and misled I may be of blinkered views whatever I may see to be honest, I wish you would stop talking to me I’m here, now considering the options the situation will allow free to roam to leave – or to make this place my home no reanimation, no rejuvination, or resuscitation, no artificial respiration let the dead bury the dead I won’t allow them to colonize my head water under the bridge permit me to forget the things we said so painful remembering the days we were connected in so many ways fondly remembering, anticipating fun who would have thought that in the end there was none no prognostication, no divination, or auspication, no vaticination I'm not planning ahead won't scrimp and save and lead a life full of dread no insurance for those afraid of losing everything after they're dead I’m here, now considering the options the situation will allow free to roam to leave – or make this place my home

Serendipity 03:42
Serendipity caught in a maze caught in a rat race not staying in one place just moving on and on when we're done - more of the same yet running on the spot there's always such a lot you want me to do if I believe it or not doesn't matter to you time out far out serendipity works fine for me you won't see that I'll be missing you and what you've achieved floating, drifting, uplifting - never felt so real to my left and my right they're disappearing from sight run over by a herd of madmen and nerds madmen and nerds like a cog in a wheel I've lost my feel for a life that is more than grinding on and on from morning to night to my left and my right they're disappearing from sight run over by a herd of madmen and nerds madmen and nerds time out far out opportunity works well for me don't expect me to reject the voice of sanity that's calling to me

The Waiting Game the lights are out, the blinds are down I'm looking out, I’m looking around  trying to take in every sight and sound
on every passing day I see people rushing by  they all seem familiar  many laughing but some do cry
watching and waiting  I wonder who I'll see again  I’d love to carry them with me  and cross the bridge from now to then
they're coming back - yet greatly changed  when everything is lost  - how can we wait  and play the game
they’re walking in the sun they’re waiting in the rain  I think of everything we’ve done trying to find a way to explain getting lost inside my head I wish I’d still be in the past but there is no stone untouched no thought, no dream is made to last
everything is coming back - yet greatly changed when everything is lost  - how can we play  a waiting game

Note From My Younger Self we have never met and likely never will you are only here  cause I am good and gone  I was dreaming of the future as young men always do are you who I saw  or are you someone new   you're stuck in the moment  but try not to forget what drove you,  what made you,  what saved you
I could see no limit  no limit but the sky  nothing I wouldn't do  nothing I wouldn’t try to reach the place  I was meant to be to reach the place  that was meant for me
now look at where you’re now have you reached that place somehow? or would you rather be back when you were me? have you come to realize there is no such place for you? you wake up every morning  born as someone new
you're stuck in the moment  but try not to forget what drove you,  what made you,  what saved you    I could see no limit  no limit but the sky  would you rather be back when you were me? have you realized? I will be with you  on any given day you may not see nor feel me  but I am here to stay and finally one day  we will be joined as one all that is is now and all that is is here     you're stuck in the moment  but try not to forget what drove you,  what made you,  what saved you    I could see no limit  no limit but the sky  would you rather be back when you were me? have you realized?

The Garden 13:12
The Garden on the run from a smoking gun I found rest and peace in the Garden on the run from a smoking gun I can smell the stench of revolution are those the drums and guns that I can hear we in the here and now will show no fear on the run from a smoking gun yes I found rest and peace in the Garden every statue in the Garden speaks to me with its story in mythology we can all learn what there is to be from these statues in mythology every statue it speaks to me with its story and all the glory of mythology on the run from a smoking gun I found love and peace in the auditorium the opera singer bringing me to tears her golden voice still ringing in my ears give me crescendo give me rocket diminuendo give me sigh Apollo - he's the God of the Arts.. Ares - he's the God of War Baccus - he's the God of Wine Minerva - she's a goddess sublime on the run from a smoking gun the last performance it has just begun the orchestra pit is empty now no strings, no flutes, no cheering, leering crowds a silver peacock chasing the grey man to the mountains and to the sun restless rainbows silent serpents saw that one fools life was done dancing dolphins dining on dragons gaudy roses moulding in lime mystic Merlin stirring the potion casting spells back into time then we’ll seek that pot of gold hearing tales of the unknown on the run from a smoking gun I found rest and peace in the Garden on the run from a smoking gun I can smell the stench of revolution are those the drums and guns that I can hear we in the here and now will show no fear on the run from a smoking gun yes I found rest and peace in the Garden every statue in the Garden speaks to me with its story in mythology we can all learn what there is to be from these statues in mythology every statue it speaks to me with its story and all the glory of mythology

This Place 09:33
This Place it affects me strangely and the things I see take me back to another me. stepping out of the frame stepping into the same river twice there's a place without a name here and now is there and then each step ahead takes me back again there and then is here and now a dress rehearsal for a farewell bow streets and houses - bushes and trees people all around - that make me me a first-time taste - a captivating smell nothing later in life I know so well a good and kind landscape of the mind reanimation of the dead a consolation for a crazy race there's still this place puppet strings of habit now in disarray a fresh breeze blows through my head tangled threads of time and space there's still this place got to get rid of those voices saying look after number one don't go soft in the head you know the rat race is on instrumental reason the whole world as a pawn in my game one-upmanship and strife where war and hate are rife give me back my life give me back my life an unknown page in the book yet the book is still the same a wistful gaze that left its trace in another life a life without a name there and then is here and now no time yet for a farewell bow a perpetual now is there and then a now that takes me back again a beam of light - in a foggy street turn the next corner - and there we meet a familiar spot - where the dark can do no harm no sense of direction - just moving on and on a good and kind landscape of the mind reanimation of the dead a consolation for a crazy race there's still this place puppet strings of habit now in disarray a fresh breeze blows through my head tangled threads of time and space there's still this place

about

Almost exactly four years after their album Absence - acclaimed by critics and fans - Poor Genetic Material release their new longplayer Here Now.
Poor Genetic Material have developed their very own unique style and are considered as one of Germany‘s best art- and progrock bands. “Excellent playing combined with inventive songwriting goes into creating music that ranges from the delicately melodious to the noisily progressive, from accessible tunes to quirkily complex arrangements.“ Not least Poor Genetic Material are known for their two exceptional lead singers: Philip Griffiths and his father Martin who is best known as the singer of 70ies prog-band Beggars Opera. The 13-minute song „The Garden“ proves that Martin Griffiths’s voice has lost nothing of its power and fascination.
Musically Here Now is more direct and less mellow than its predecessor. Lyrically the two albums deal with two sides of the same coin: While Absence was focussing on the experience of loss and the transience of everything we live through, Here Now deals with the permanent presence of every single moment, which makes us forever tied to the Here and Now.
