In the 1990ies Poor Genetic Material had been an ambient project, mainly working on soundtrack material for theatre productions. When the two founding members Stefan Glomb and Philipp Jaehne met Alias Eye's frontman Philip Griffiths they found that they shared a lot of ideas and visions - musically and lyrically. So it was a matter of hours until they agreed to record an album together. Philip Griffiths brought along Alias Eye drummer Ludwig Benedek to complete the line-up.
Sonically and production-wise Summerland is certainly not up to the standard of today's PGM-albums, but it still bears the magic of the beginning of the PGM-journey, which by now has gone on for almost 20 years.
